Which Pencils to use for a Brown Cat

One of our members Michelle sent us a picture of her cat that she wishes to draw using Pastel Pencils. She asked for some advice on colours. Michelle writes:

Hi Colin and Steve,Can you advise me on the colours to use for my cat? Many thanksMichelle

As with many of these requests, we can only give out the basic colours because until you are actually doing the picture it is hard to tell exactly which additional colours you may need.The colour numbers referred to below are from the Faber-Castell Pitt Pastel Pencil range as this is the set that I recommend and use. I have included a colour chart so that you can see these colours if you're using another range.Light fur - 103 , 270, 187, 283Dark fur - 270, 273, 283, 177Eyes - 101, 172, 230, 170Pupils - 273 , 181, 170.Other colours of your choice would be required to compliment the above but it is a starting point.We hope that helps people to understand the basic tones behind a picture like this.
