Mounting Miniature Paintings

miniature artwork mounted and framedIn a previous article, I spoke about double mounting my artwork and choosing a frame. With miniature pictures I personally choose not to double mount.Ivory is a good colour to go for as you can see in this picture on the right. This miniature pastel pencil picture "Romance on the Beach" is 5 cm x 11 cm and is featured on our World of Miniatures DVD.If you are having your artwork professionally framed then you can have any size or mount. If you want to save money then you can buy a frame first then be guided on the size of your miniature work. I wouldn't recommend using a big, heavy frame around the miniature, this would only work if you make the mount itself bigger. My miniature pastel pencil work is usually around 6cm x 9 cm and a good size frame I would say is 8 inches x 6 inches. To learn how to draw pastel pencil miniature paintings, check out our dvd in our online shop.
