If you have seen our videos or watched our courses then you will have noticed that we recommend and use the Faber-Castell Pitt Pastel Pencils, we love them and our students do too!

We also know that when students are visiting us for the first time and haven’t got the Faber-Castell Pencils, they find it difficult to substitute the colours for ones that they have.

So in this post we have looked at another popular brand of Pastel Pencils – Carbothello by Stabilo and matched up what we believe to be the equivalent colours in the Faber range.

We hope this makes it easier for those with this brand to do our courses. It was a very tricky task as there are colours in the Faber range which don’t match exactly with Carbothello. For these we have listed 2 colours that mixed would produce a similar tone.

Even though our courses are predominantly done using the Faber Pencils (we have only introduced Cretacolor and Stabilo in our new advanced demonstrations), having more brands at your disposal is great and gives you a wide range of colours to choose from.

We have also included two really helpful colour charts from SalemSkye’s blog which really helped with doing this. You can see their full article here.

We were also sent another very useful chart from Peter Leise who created his own comparisons, you can download his chart as a PDF here.

We hope that helps students with matching colours. If it does let us know in the comments below.
