Picking a Background Colour for a Horse Painting

Margaret has sent me her painting of a horse and has asked my advice regarding the colour of the background she could use.Picking a Background Colour for this horse paintingI have taken the liberty of placing a blue frame around the picture as I think this helps in the decision regarding the colour etc. What I would do is create a background similar to the one I used for my White Horse project on the members site.Other colours could be added such as ochre, green or brown into the grey mix but I would avoid too strong a tone. I have also added another orange portrait shape as an alternative but I feel the blue landscape would suit the shape of the picture best, I hope this helps. If you would like feedback on your art, please our membership.
