kitten using pastel pencilsPastel pencils are an easy medium, you can pick it up and immediately start using it. You do not have any water to worry about or mixing of colours. They are dry and convenient art medium which you can take with you. This website has projects that caters for the absolute beginner, for those that are completely starting out. I would suggest starting out with the Kitten and Harbour Landscape (which we are currently offering for free - see links below). The Rose still life picture is also a very nice project to begin with. If you'd like to start drawing people and figures then we have some very simple characters that can get you started.Another great thing about the medium is that you learn with every picture you do and the learning curve is very quick. By joining our membership you can have access to the pastel pencil videos 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This means you can learn at your own pace in the comfort of your own home. You can choose to follow along with Colin or watch and apply the techniques after each lesson.Pastel pencils already seem familiar to work with as I'm sure all of us tried using Coloured Pencils as children. If you want to purchase a set of pencils then our Special Selection Box of Faber-Castell Pencils can be purchased on our art store.
