How the Slight Angle of an eye in a picture makes a difference

Ian has sent me his great painting of the white horse project and has asked for my comments.Colin Bradley's Picture and Ian's Picture Side by Side1As you can see there is very little I can find fault with here as Ian has achieved a good likeness to the original. The only thing that stands out is the right eye which is slightly out of alinement. The angle here does make a difference however as at the moment the eye suggests that it is facing the front rather than being slightly to the right side.Study both of the right eyes on the two pictures above to see how this affects the appearance. We do have another article here which might help further with those needing to adjust animal eyes in portraits. If you would like feedback on your artwork from Colin Bradley, why not join our online art school through our membership.
